Word 2013 is a semester course designed for students who have already taken a keyboarding class. In this class, students will review basic keyboarding skills and be introduced to word processing.
Word processing is the use of the computer software to enter and edit text. Students will learn how to create and edit documents such as letters and reports. They will create more complex documents such as newsletters with pictures and web pages. These are documents that they will use in their career, personal and business activities.
This class will earn 3 college credits upon successful completion.
Excel is the spreadsheet application in Microsoft programs. A spreadsheet is a grid of rows and columns containing numbers, text and formulas. Its purpose is to solve problems that involve numbers. Some of the ways students will utilize a spreadsheet could be preparing a budget, determine payments to be made on a loan, or calculating monthly income and expenses.
Our high school "Moose-a-bec Messenger" publication is a class that simulates working for a publishing company. The class teaches many skills students need for their future careers. Units of study include teamwork, responsibility, brainstorming, content, reporting, writing, editing, photography, typography, design, graphics, finances, advertising and distribution.
Business Law (VHS)
Business and Personal Law is designed for students who have a desire to learn more about legal issues that will affect them in the present and in the future. It will acquaint students with basic legal principles common to business and personal issues. Ethics, the origin of law, our court system structure, contracting, buying and selling, employment, organizing a business, real estate, wills, trusts, and marriage and divorce are explored.
